JEEP WAGONEER 'ZIHUATANEJO'
The Jeep Wagoneer debuted in 1963. We are fascinated with this car as it was the very first SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) in the world. The vehicle had a production run of 29 years with almost no body design changes even though there were 3 different owners of the brand during that time.
We found this Jeep Wagoneer from 1979 in a great mechanical condition and we decided to keep the original engine (for now) because we wanted to keep the car nimble, reliable and have lower fuel consumption. We changed the transmission to an automatic one, so it's easy to drive in the daily city traffic, but we kept the 4x4 transfer case, so it can be enjoyed off-road. We also lifted the car with a new suspension kit, and added new wheels and off-road tyres to the car. We repainted the car to its original factory color but added a second color to the top, and to some of the chrome trim, so the car has a contemporary look. On the inside, we reupholstered the seats with the finest leather matching the second color of the exterior and added a “straw” headliner, and wood panels to the trunk to match the tropical look of the SUV.
